Up the Program, Build the Party!: MUG’s Convention Resolutions

The socialist movement faces many challenges as we build towards recovering from the decline of the political left in the United States in the aftermath of 2020—especially as we enter the long-haul of working class resistance to the Trump administration. Marxist Unity Group is steadfast in that our answer to the problems of Left disunity and disorganization is only, and can only ever be, the construction of a mass socialist party in the United States, united around a program of revolutionary democracy and political independence from all capitalist parties. We believe DSA has the potential to be that party, and we will fight to realize it.
To this end, we are putting forward a slate of proposals for DSA’s 2025 National Convention this August. These include continuing the work of and expanding on the 2024 Workers Deserve More platform to build towards programmatic unity in DSA, to extend and clarify DSA’s principled approach to socialist party building, to fight to put the power of electoral discipline into the hands of the organized membership, and ensuring that socialists take initiative in the struggle for voting rights for the disenfranchised sections of the working class.
